A Europe fit for the digital age

One of the European Commission's 2019-2024 priorities

Slide

In order to fully capitalise on Europe's rich pool of talents, the European Commission aims to reduce barriers to learning and make it easier for citizens, especially youth, to access quality education. The creation of a European Education Area, for example, will make it easier for students to move between Member States, boosting international cooperation and promoting innovation.

The European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan recognises the key role that digital technologies can play in teaching and learning, irrespective of borders, language and age.

Many projects supported by the Erasmus+ programme are concrete examples of this plan in action, helping to prepare a Europe fit for the digital age.

App Your School

Young Europeans are adept at using mobile digital technologies and apps outside of school. This innovative project encourages them to switch on their phones and tablets in class and use them for research, exploration, and a whole range of creative learning activities that stretch their digital skills.
