EWP by and for universities: new governance will support community-driven developments
Newly-approved Erasmus Without Paper governance structure allows broad involvement by stakeholders, and aims earn the trust and support of the community it serves.
Why an EWP governance structure
The governance structure approved by the European Commission brings together all the aspects of digitalising the Erasmus+ administration. It taps into the collective intelligence of the EWP community to assess how progress towards digitalisation is being achieved for both students and higher education institutions (HEIs).
The moves to enhance this governance mechanisms will enshrine collaborative effort towards deploying state of the art digital infrastructure that significantly advances mobility and cooperation both in Europe and ultimately beyond.
Governance of Erasmus Without Paper is structured around different bodies which represent users dealing with a digitalised Erasmus+. Their role is to provide conclusions, impressions and feedback from users’ experience and perspective on digitization advances.
Each body is assigned a set of goals and tasks to best mobilise their know-how and knowledge of student mobility and digitalisation of higher education.
Business Process Owners
Represents International Relations Officers in higher education institutions. These are the main drivers of student mobility and the Erasmus+ programme, and their needs, analysis and feedback will shape the European Student Card Initiative.
Represents the EWP technical community: IT officers in HEIs and 3rd party software providers. Their cooperation is essential to ensure that EWP is enforced and implemented as the baseline standard.
Digital Officers Forum
Represents Erasmus+ National Agencies and Member States Representatives. Their job is to support HEIs around ESCI, build awareness, communicate, coordinate and offer guidance.
University and Students Forum
Represents University Networks, University Alliances and Students. It will be a strong means to promote ESCI to HEIs. They will also have a consultative role on defining the priorities and timeline of the digitisation roadmap.
Consists of external experts in education and digital technologies. They will be consulted on the project vision, community outreach and IT solutions so that the ESCI project is in line with the latest trends in digitalisation.
As a vital part of ESCI, all interested universities are invited to take part in user groups. These will offer insights into their needs and sentiments, suggest solutions, and help benchmarking.
These user groups will provide specific feedback per type of infrastructure, allowing much higher granularity and insight.
