173 new projects proposed for funding to support international cooperation in higher education
These projects for Capacity Building for Higher Education have been selected for funding under the 2025 Erasmus+ call for proposals.
Helping higher education institutions fulfil their mission
Erasmus+ capacity building for higher education projects mobilise universities and academics to address the diverse challenges facing us in the world today.
They work as partnerships between organisations (usually higher education institutions) from the EU and other associated European countries, and from other countries or regions of the world. Together they develop innovative teaching content and techniques, train staff and help higher education institutions carry out their missions in a rapidly changing world.
Global challenges and Global Gateway
Across the world, policy-makers and educators recognise the role of education to address the many challenges that face us, such as the climate emergency, conflict, and the need for re-skilling as artificial intelligence shapes how we work and learn.
Capacity building projects can also develop the skills and expertise for Europe and its partners to drive forward Global Gateway projects and the value chains that they aim to develop.
Zero-carbon to health education
This year, the 173 projects proposed for funding cover over 1 550 higher education stakeholders from almost 125 countries worldwide, working as full partners or coordinators.
All will work to modernise and internationalise higher education in partner countries, and to strengthen the EU’s relations with these countries – both in the education sector and more widely.
Some of the topics of this year’s selection:
- intelligent transport systems (Western Balkans)
- energy efficient building design (Neighbourhood East)
- green and digital transitions in the maritime industry (South Mediterranean)
- ocean plastic management (Asia)
- eco-informatics for the impact on the Aral Sea (Central Asia)
- industry links for skills and employability (Middle East)
- green and blue career paths for graduates in Micronesia (Pacific)
- climate-smart farming (Western Africa)
- energy efficient lighting for clean energy transition (Southern Africa)
- digital technologies for water education (Eastern Africa)
- spatial tools to assess natural hazard risks (Latin America)
