The Jean Monnet actions cover the fields of higher education, schools and vocational education and training.

Higher education projects

The Jean Monnet actions in the field of higher education support teaching and research in European Union (EU) studies worldwide. These studies

  • promote active European citizenship and values
  • deal with the role of the EU in a globalised world
  • enhance awareness of the EU
  • facilitate future engagement and people-to-people dialogue

The Jean Monnet actions are a public diplomacy tool for engagement with non-EU countries participating in the Erasmus+ programme (so-called ‘third countries’).

The actions promote and enhance the visibility of European values and the objectives of the European Union.

157 modules, 71 chairs and 31 centres of excellence will receive EU funding to support this work.

School and vocational education and training projects

In schools and vocational education and training centres within the EU and third countries associated to the Erasmus+ programme, the Jean Monnet actions promote understanding of the EU.

The Jean Monnet actions support the development of teaching content on the EU, of teaching staff’s knowledge and teaching methodologies.

The actions also promote debate and exchanges between school and vocational education and training representatives and various stakeholders on education about the EU.

20 teacher training initiatives and 2 networks will receive EU funding to support these efforts.
