37 new projects proposed for funding on youth with countries neighbouring the EU

Helping youth organisations in countries neighbouring the EU to fulfil their missions

Capacity-building in the field of youth projects are international cooperation projects based on multilateral partnerships between organisations active in the field of youth. They run between organisations which are based in the EU and Erasmus+ countries and organisations in non-EU countries not associated to the Programme.

This year, funding for non-EU countries focuses exclusively on countries neighbouring the EU, in the Western Balkans, the Neighbourhood East and the Southern Mediterranean.

The primary goal of such projects is to raise the capacity of organisations working with young people outside formal learning in the target countries. This includes promoting non-formal learning activities like clubs or community groups, especially in organisations working with young people with fewer opportunities.

Projects also aim to get young people more involved in society, giving them new competences and opportunities to act.

Another main goal is to support youth work development and improve its quality and recognition. 

Total budget

Over €10 million have been allocated to the 37 projects selected in the 2024 call for proposals.

Examples of projects

• Promoting mental health in youth from Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Greece, Serbia, North Macedonia and Montenegro through the forum theatre methodology against the threats of the digital environments
• Working with youth in the Western Balkans region facing multiple crises with a view to develop new ways to engage, connect, and empower youngsters
• Boosting the capacity of local youth organisations in both the EU (Czechia and Slovakia) and Eastern Neighbourhood countries (Georgia and Armenia) to engage with young social impact entrepreneurs on an international scale
• Strengthening youth workers and organisations for displaced youth integration and resilience in Ukraine, Türkiye, Poland, Moldova and Georgia
• Fostering resilient futures through global citizenship education and participatory video labs for youth in Morocco and Tunisia
• Building the capacity of youth organisations in Romania, Jordan, Tunisia, Egypt and Portugal to effectively challenge dominant public and media narratives surrounding feminism and feminist issues.
