Work continued apace over the summer period to outline the next steps in digitalising higher education.

A series of impactful Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) Days across Europe have highlighted key developments in the digitalisation of higher education.

EWP Days were run to discuss the implementation and future trajectory of the Erasmus Without Paper initiative.

The European Student Card initiative (ESCI) team from the European Commission alongside Erasmus+ National Agencies presented updates on progress and outlined the next steps for ESCI.

EWP champions, digital officers, and digital practitioners explored country-specific implementation challenges, offering practical solutions and recommendations tailored to each region.

Led by National Agency Digital Officers, these gatherings brought together over 70 people per event, including International Relations Officers (IROs), IT developers, students, policymakers from Ministries of Education, the European Commission and staff from higher education institutions (HEIs).

Events were held at

  • The University for Foreigners of Perugia, Italy
  • Breda University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands
  • The University of Granada, Spain

Upcoming events

EWP Days are planned for

  • Portugal on 14 November
  • France on 25 November

More EWP Days and related activities are also planned for 2025.
