An app to support the Erasmus+ community

The Erasmus+ App helps students prepare their stay abroad and access key information during mobility.

It’s part of the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI). ESCI simplifies administrative processes and improves the Erasmus+ experience through digital solutions.

Today, the Erasmus+ App offers a wide range of services. Students can

  • access step-by-step mobility guidance
  • discover mobility opportunities
  • search housing through trusted providers
  • use integrated application tools
  • find verified events and student deals across Europe

Higher education institutions can use the app to share events and information with mobility students and support their mobility journey.

Why open source?

By publishing the source code, the European Commission aims to:

  • increase transparency around Erasmus+ digital tools
  • encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing
  • support innovation in the European higher education digital ecosystem
  • strengthen sustainable European digital public infrastructure

Dgital tools funded by the European Commission should be accessible and reusable by the community.

For students and institutions, the app continues to function exactly as before.

Open source strengthens how the app can evolve. It makes for easier development, reuse, and integration with existing systems.

Explore the source code

The Erasmus+ App source code is now available on the European Commission open source platform.

The code is published under the GNU General Public License v3. This widely used licence ensures the software remains open and accessible.

IT teams from higher education institutions and service providers can explore and reuse the codebase to build or adapt their own solutions supporting Erasmus+ mobility.

Get involved: use and share the Erasmus+ App

If you’re a student planning or currently on Erasmus+ mobility, download the app to access key info and services in one place. It’s available on Android, iOS and via the web version.

Looking ahead

Publishing the Erasmus+ App source code is an important milestone in strengthening the European Student Card Initiative as a shared European digital infrastructure.

The European Commission will continue working with the Erasmus+ community to ensure that digital tools developed and funded by the European Commission and used in ESCI remain user-focused and ready to support future generations of Erasmus+ students.
