ESCI becomes ESCI+
By adding the “plus”, the initiative signals both continuity and evolution towards a more integrated and user-oriented system which can support current and possible user needs and future requirements from the next Erasmus+ Programme. It echoes the introduction of “Erasmus+” in 2014, which marked a shift towards a more ambitious and unified programme.
Similarly, ESCI+ reflects a clearer connection between its three core components — Erasmus Without Paper, the European Student Card, and the Erasmus+ App — which will increasingly function as one coherent and interconnected digital ecosystem.
For users, this means simpler and more seamless mobility processes, with fewer administrative steps and more consistent access to services. For higher education institutions, it implies more efficient workflows, reduced duplication of data, and improved interoperability between systems.
Building on the achievements of the current phase, ESCI+ will take into account the lessons learned and further develop the digital infrastructure to support a more integrated and scalable implementation of Erasmus+.
More broadly, ESCI+ aims to move from a set of connected tools to a truly integrated digital environment, further contributing to the development of the European Education Area and better responding to the evolving needs of students, higher education institutions and other Erasmus+ stakeholders, informed by ongoing dialogue with the community.
