I first discovered Erasmus+ through my high school. I applied to the programme and trained as a room division manager’s assistant with the aim of one day becoming a leader in the hospitality sector.

I was placed at a resort located at the north coast of Koh Samui – a beautiful island in Thailand. While there during May 2022 – September 2022, my main duty was to be available for guests whenever they needed assistance. My job was to make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I learned how to solve problems by myself. I was also responsible for carrying out some receptionist duties such as checking guests in and out, answering the telephone and relaying important information to co-workers.

Thanks to my placement in Thailand, I am now able to speak English fluently. My experience working there gave me a lot of confidence as I took the risk of trying a job that I wasn’t sure would be perfect for me. I became independent in Thailand and grew accustomed to fending for myself. I’m also very happy that I had the opportunity to meet a lot of people – many of whom I’m still in touch with today.

After my experience in Thailand, I can’t wait to start new adventures, building on what I learned on Erasmus+.

Erasmus+ has enabled me to work abroad, which was one of the goals I set out to achieve after finishing school. Everyone should try Erasmus+ at least once in their life as it will give you an experience like no other. I’m forever grateful for my experience. Thanks to Erasmus+, I’m a more open-minded person and I feel empowered to aim for the life I’ve always dreamed about!
